Research

Although I'm open to new research fields, currently I'm mostly focused in the following research topics:
  • Non conventional System-on-Chip development methodologies.

  • System-on-Chip integration automation.

  • Modeling techniques and eda tools for custom hardware metaprogramming.

  • Hardware modeling techniques using general high level purpose programming languages.

  • Application of Software Engineering tecniques and methodologies to Hardware design and development.

Development

Through my research I have developed several kinds of hardware systems:
  • FPGA based custom System-on-Chip platforms using Open Source CPUs and IP cores running Linux or other embedded operating systems.

  • Custom IP-Cores development for FPGAs.

  • FPGA memory Controller development and characterisation.

  • Clock distribution and dynamic phase tuning for high speed/performance FPGA embedded memory controllers.

  • Microcontroller based design of a variety of systems including for Home/Industrial automation based on CAN Bus.

  • PCB Design and fabrication (multilayer) for FPGA or microcontroller based systems.
