ID2 was born in 2007 when a group of researchers formerly with group TIC-180 decide to create a new research group focused on the research and development of digital electronic systems, embedded systems and computer engineering. Since its creation, the group have obtained financial support from a variety of fundamental and applied research projects from the national governments through the National Research Plan (Plan Nacional de Investigación), the regional government and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The members of ID2 also participate actively in all the levels of higher education, including the Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering, the Masters in Computers and Networks Engineering and the Doctorate Program of the DTE.
One of the main objectives of the group is the contribution to the industrial and technological development through cooperation with companies and start-ups in the regional, national and international spheres.
